Description

An intricate 18ct yellow gold and old cut diamond set buckle ring from the Edwardian period. Symbolising loyalty and attachment buckle designs were incredibly popular during the earlier Georgian and Victorian periods. This fine example showcases rich foliate scrollwork patterns, and has been defined by two old cut diamonds set into star shaped surrounds. Fully hallmarked for Chester (1908) this ring is a perfect everyday jewel to be worn by a gentleman or a lady. The Edwardian period only lasted for nine years (1901-1910), but it was an incredibly important era for jewellery design. Hugely intricate pieces, showcasing the very best diamonds and gemstones, were worn with elaborate fashions from the most famous French couture houses. Driven by the explosion of court life, steered by the fashion-conscious King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, this was a truly special time.
