Description
A characterful motor car sparkles as the centrepiece of this immensely wearable clip pendant. Originally an elegant stick pin from the Edwardian period this was originally designed to take pride of place in the lapel of a jacket. Expertly detailed the motor car has been crafted from 18ct yellow gold and silver with twelve rose cut diamonds used to define the main body. The wheels, steering wheel and lamps are all easy to distinguish in this superb jewel. Motor cars were increasingly popular during the Edwardian period amongst the nobility and wealthy upper classes. A true status symbol many photographs survive of elegant groups prepared for a countryside drive in cars such as these. Expertly converted in the Pragnell workshops into a removable clip pendant this has been paired with an intricate French openwork link chain section (41cm) from the Belle Epoque period
